Space Turret

This was our second Casual Games class game and my personal favorite. The entire group was enamored with the idea of immersing the player in the fantasy that they were on a ship controlling a turret so we worked hard on tuning the controls so the screen was like a window to space. I helped a bit with the magnetometer controls as the accelerometer only gave us enough for vertical tilt. By telling how far away we were from pointing magnetic north, we were able to get a shaky but useable read of horizontal tilting and turning and I also learned how to do a low-pass filter. I then worked on the HUD, designing the different images in order to look as interesting and as much like a piece of future technology as possible.

The group was myself, Matthew Niederberger, Christian Granville, and Terrance Muchler.
