IMD was about concepts so we used Processing in order to rapidly demonstrate these concepts. I’m very proud of my Asteroids Remix as it looks and feels very unique and futuristic. The player zips and drifts with the arrow keys and can shoot my geometric asteroids. I made them using a Processing class we made for a previous assignment, Poly, that we used to make Polygons. But what I did was had it so instead of the asteroids breaking into separate asteroids, they instead lost sides when they were hit- making larger asteroids more dangerous as they keep coming at the player even if they’re shot. In addition to looking cool, it also makes it so the player knows exactly how much they need to shoot (if it is a triangle and is shot it finally disappears). Like many asteroid games, the asteroids never stop coming.
I also had a drum and bass song by my friend Roman (Shivaxi on Soundcloud) called Arkham Bridge and timed it’s opening of a Mech computer booting up with a countdown before the player started so it felt like the player was actually inside the ship cockpit and getting ready to fight asteroids.
